On Friday July 1, 2022 our beloved Doris Elizabeth Hicks, devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend entered into eternal life.. She was affectionately known as “Sista”. Doris was the loving daughter of the late Nancy M Hicks and the late Ernest Holland.  She was born on June 24, 1931 in Baltimore, Maryland.  Her transition was a peaceful at her home. Doris received her education as Bel Alton High School (Charles County Md.)  After completing high school, she moved to Washington, DC.  She furthered her education at Automation Academy, Inc. and received a certification as a Nursing Aide/Geriatric Aide. She worked in housekeeping for Safeguard Maintenance, Inc. at the US Department of Agriculture until her retirement. Doris enjoyed company with her close Friends and Family, She loved on her grandchildren. Doris leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Joseph, Gary, Sheila, Alfred and Thomas;   grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; two sisters Geraldine, and Cathrine and brother William (Jimmy) Hicks. Doris was preceded in death by her son Larry D. Hicks and loving brother James M. Hicks. There are no words adequate to say how we are going to miss “SISTA."

 Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 13, from 6pm until 8pm at Wiseman Funeral Chapel, 7529 Old Alexandria Ferry Road, Clinton, Maryland. Interment Thursday, July 14, at Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery, 9560 Trinity Church Road, Newport, Maryland 20622 at 12 noon.
