On Wednesday, April 1, 2020, Leilani Marguerite Jordan of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, entered into eternal life. Family will receive friends on Monday, April 20, from 10 am until the time of funeral service at 11 am at Wiseman Funeral Chapel, 7531 Old Alexandria Ferry Road, Clinton, Maryland. Interment Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.


Leilani Margurite Jordan was born in Honolulu Hawaii October 22, 1992 to Mr. William C. Jordan, Sr. and Zenobia D. Toomer Jordan Shepherd.  She was the oldest daughter of 6 children.  She was born in a military family, and traveled the world with her parents.  Leilani passed away at Walter Reed Army Hospital April 1, 2020 due to the COVID-19 Virus (Pandemic).  Leilani worked at Giant Grocery Store in Largo, MD for 6 years under a special program for vulnerable employees.  Despite her vulnerabilities, she loved working and taking care of Giants customers and employees. Regardless of what task was given to her, no matter how small or large, she performed her work with pride.  Leilani always went the extra mile working and helping the customers and employees at Giants, even when she was not scheduled to work.  She loved her family, her life, church life and Giant Family.

Leilani graduated in 2012 from Wise High School in Prince Georges County, Maryland. She also graduated fromBreakthrough Bible College, Washington DC, where she earned her Associates Degree in Biblical Studies in February 18, 2017.  Leilani later attended Prince Georges Community College and completed the sign language program in 2018. In Fall of 2018, Leilani enrolled in Hospitality Management program because her dream was to be a manager at Giant Grocery Store and to someday own her own business helping those that are disadvantaged.

Leilani’s passion was praying, helping others, she loved children so much, being independent, loved teaching Sunday school, music, travel, and spending time with her 2 dogs specifically her service Dog “Angel”. Leilani “Butterfly” was a very special caring and loving young lady.  She would not hurt a anyone in the world.  She volunteered at the Prince George Animal Shelter helping homeless cats and dogs, and she loved spending precious time with her family and loved ones.

Leilani is a member of Real Power AME Church ( AKA- Hunter Memorial, AME)- Reverend, Doctor, Harold B. Hayes and Reverend Doctor Kellie V. Hayes, 10201 Old Indian Head Rd Upper Marlboro Maryland, 20772.  Leilani accepted the Lord and was baptized in 2010 at Hunter Memorial AME Church, Suitland Maryland. Leilani attended St. Patrick Catholic Church and school as a small child in Charleston South Carolina.

Leilani had a special gift which was cooking and sharingeverything even with her helpless senior Giant Customers that she often helped them walk all the way to their cars or even the bathroom.  She always wanted nothing but the best for everyone.


Leilani was preceded in death by her Grandmothers Julia Ann Toomer Simmons and Maude Jordan, Grandfathers Eddie Toomer of Charleston South Carolina, Charles E. Shepherd Sr ofCleveland, Ohio, and Roosevelt Jordan of Talladega Alabama.  She was also preceded by 4 Uncles from South Carolina (Vincent Toomer, William Toomer, Eddie Toomer, David Toomer), Roosevelt Jordan, Jr., and Gerald Jordan.

Leilani leaves behind to mourn her forever love- Her wonderful Mother Zenobia D. Toomer Jordan Shepherd, Father Charles E. Shepherd Jr. Father William C. Jordan Sr., Brothers- William Cedric Jordan Jr., Rishawn Turnage, Charles E. Shepherd III, and sisters that were her best friend’s that will miss their big Sis- Jeletalora Zyandria Shepherd, and Zy’on Persian Shepherd of Maryland, and her extended family of Dominion Residential of Maryland.

She also leaves to mourn a Grandmother- Annie Bernice Shepherd, and Grandparents in love JeletaLora Brown and Chaplain Charles Brown of Oceanside California.

Leilani has host of aunts and uncles (in love) that always mentor and love her and teach her how to Love the Lord, be helpful, be beautiful and how to stay strong every day. (Delores Simmons and Jeffrey Wilson, Anthony and Sonya Webb, Lutalo and Mary Mudada, Jackie Toomer, Regina Thornton, Yolanda Dockery and Larry Dockery, Jennifer Miles, Mary Jordan, Patsy Morgan, Gloria Embry, Benny Carl Embry Bernard Jordan, Connie Toomer, Cleo Toomer, John and Monique Dewese, Joseph and Mercy Osazuwa, Michael and Cathy Salvato, Clifton and Angela Greenhow, Debbie and Rayton Davis, Larry Jones and Frank Crumpton, Cheryl Hamilton, and Kathy Sherman.

She also leaves to mourn a host of dear friends, and her extended church family at Dominion Residential of Maryland, and Christian Missionary Fellowship-Bowie Maryland-Pastor Thomas Bechem, and Giant Grocery Store employees in Largo, and Greenbelt Maryland, Catholic Charities, and MellwoodRehabilitation Center.
