Lucy Alberta Foster Eberhardt transitioned to her eternal home on January 9th, 2022 at age 84, after a brief, but hard-fought battle with lymphoma. She leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and friends.
Lucy was born in Northfork, West Virginia to parents LeRoy Foster and Lucille Hartwell. She married Emmanuel (“Sam”) Eberhardt in 1953 and provided a loving home for her 7 children: Ramona (“Jeannie”), Gregory “Greg”, Emmanuel (“Butch”), Michael (“Mike”), James, Nicky (“Nick”), and Terry.
Lucy was a selfless caregiver, taking care not only of her seven children, but also of her husband, mother, and father in their final years as they battled various illnesses. For many years she was a unit secretary for a nursing station for Prince George’s County Hospital, offering her care, empathy, and helpful administrative acumen to the many patients that benefitted from her expertise. Her family, faith in God, elephants, drawing and sketching, and the occasional win for the Washington Football team were some of the things that brought her the most joy.
Lucy is survived by 6 of her children: Ramona (Phillip), Greg (Della), Butch, James (Erica), Nick, and Terry (Colleen); 13 grandchildren: Tianda (Kojo), Sean (Dionna), Arelia, Heather, Damion (Margery), Jonathan, Shampaigne, Lexy, Dai’Andre, Jasmine, Christian, Caleb, and Eli; 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, (Carolyn and Louise), her husband, and her son Michael (Crystal).
